Novice2Pro Fishing Website
Welcome to Sean and Donny's quest to become professional fishermen. One
year of fishing is in the books for these two Average Joe's. A great
friendship and a bitter rivalry was formed because of last year's adventures.
This year should be very interesting now that Sean is the reigning Novice2Pro
Walleye Grudge Match Champion and ended last year with a clean sweep of all of
the contest categories. Donny has delivered on the prizes...Sean has new
gear...now Donny wants revenge!
As much fun as we will have this year, we will be moving closer to our goal of
becoming professional fishermen. We have new gear, new strategies for
fishing and will be using different tactics to secure sponsors. We have
also added new contributors to our site that are already at the professional
level. Check back for their names and their tips and advice throughout the
year.
Our site has many new features that should keep you coming back for all of your
fishing needs, whether you are new to fishing, or you are a seasoned vet.
We encourage all of our visitors to check out all that Novice2Pro.com has to
offer. This page will always have our last fishing trip and any relevant
updates and news shown. The rest of the site has many fishing resources
that you will find helpful.
Here is the directory to all of the things that you can do on Novice2Pro

Sean and Donny's Latest Fishing Trip
Our latest Fishing Log entry will be found here throughout the year, but check
the "Fishing Log" page with our past adventures.
Summer 2008
Summertime Blues
Well summer hit the Novice2Pro Fishing Team hard this year. Both in our
everyday lives and fishing for walleye. Since our last post, we no longer
have the use of a boat, the walleye stopped biting and I had to contend with two
soccer teams and a football team for my kids. Needless to say, we were
limited on the time we could spend fishing.
This is a great website because we are detailing our everyday lives as well as
our fishing. You can see what Donny and I are doing outside our goal of
becoming professional fishermen.
I will keep this post brief as to not prolong my agony. Donny ended up
catching 1 x Walleye in June and 1 x Walleye in July. We went on plenty of
trips, but fishing from shore in warmer waters has skunked us on more than 20
occasions. We were even skunked for the season on Otisco Lake, which was
our savior last year when we caught walleye all summer long. Otisco is a
much smaller lake, but is much deeper so it kept the water cold more of the
summer.
I am not sure if it is the weather or some other underlying issue, but we are in
the middle of August without a walleye, so keep coming back to see how we are
doing as walleye season begins again.

Head to Head Every Night- Donny Will Not Quit
Another even night with Donny catching 2 x walleye (18", 16.5") and Sean
catching 2 x walleye (19.5", 16.5").
I cannot seem to make up any ground on Donny. I will still get him.

Holy Crap!! A 26"er for Sean!
I have had a few nights in a row to not be happy about and I realize that I am
only down by a few walleye in the early half of the season, but what happened
tonight surely lifted my spirits. Donny and I each caught 1 x walleye
(Sean 19", Donny 16") at the beginning of the night at Tony's place on the south
shore of Oneida Lake.
The excitement came when I was about ready to call it quits for the night.
I noticed a set of eyes when I turned my headlamp on maybe 10 feet in front of
me. I tossed my Black/Silver Challenger three feet behind it. I
retrieved very slowly and WHAM! the walleye fight of my short career began.
I fought it for about three minutes before hauling it in close enough for Donny
to net it. I normally do not use a net, but something told me to have
Donny grab this one.
I was freaking out when I saw the size of this thing. It was 26" long!
This is a new record for me and Novice2Pro Fishing. I was jumping for joy
and not to mention it qualifies for the largest walleye contest and it also is
eligible for mounting! I will post pictures of the beast soon in our new
picture section of the site.
Oh yea...Donny caught a second walleye right before we left (17.5").

Frustration Sets In For Sean...WHY!!!
I am tired, annoyed, and frustrated with fishing. This is baffling as I am
using the same lures, the same speed of retrieval and casting right next to
Donny. The result is Donny catching 2 x walleye (16.5", 17.5) and I catch
a big fat donut!!!

Donny Strikes Back!
Another butt-whoopin' by Donny! Donny caught a modest 5 x walleye tonight
(19", 18", 17.5", 15", 17.5") and I only caught 1 x walleye (17.5").
Because I am in a bad mood...this is all I want to say about this trip.

Even It Up Kid!! Sean Ties Donny on Walleye Totals
On a night that I felt better about the contest, I nailed 4 x Walleye (19", 18",
18", 17"). Donny ended the night by falling into the water and soaking
himself inside his chest waders. Donny also only caught 2 x walleye (16",
17.5").
We ended the night very late and it was freezing cold.
